Positions available: Swim Lesson Instructor
Starting wage: $14.00 per hour, without previous experience teaching swim lessons. Lifeguards have a starting wage of $20 per hour. Hourly wage is dependent on experience working with kids and swimming background. Hours per week range from 2 - 10 during the school year, with the opportunity to work as many as 20 hours per week during the summer months. Those that work during the school year will have first opportunities for summer positions.
We would like to start training new instructors as soon as possible, and have the ability to offer a First Aid/CPR class as well.
Description: SwimAmerica swim lesson instructors must enjoy working with children, and provide safe and motivational classes for students in the SwimAmerica program.
Education/Experience Requirements: Individuals must be at least 16 years old, have current state approved First-Aid and CPR certifications and be able to relate to children, their peers and adults. Along with these basic requirements, individuals must have the following abilities: observant and able to evaluate situation effectively in a a short period of time, patient with children and parents, communicate effectively, safety conscious, and exercise mature judgment.

Swim lesson instructors should be able to swim efficiently and be able to demonstrate any of the skills that we teach in our program. A swimming test may be required.
Responsibilities:

Create a positive, welcoming environment for all of our swimmers and families.

Work with swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Work as a positive member part of our team by developing relationships with your
supervisor, other instructors, swimmers and parents.

Conduct lessons according to the SwimAmerica lesson progression system.

Communicate progress to parents throughout the session.

Participate in all trainings as required by the supervisor(s).

Be on time for and work all scheduled shifts; all subs or arrangements to not work a schedule shift must be arranged in advance with your supervisor. Accept feedback from supervisors and ask questions if help is needed.
*We do offer CPR and First Aid for our staff periodically, and we may be able to certify
you so please indicate if you do not have First Aid and CPR on the application.
